1934 yılında Balıkesir’de doğdu. Eğitim dönemleri ile ilgili olarak“kendi kendimi yetiştirdim”
diyen sanatçının; 11 yayınlanmış, 9 yayınlanmaya hazır kitabı vardır. Anadolu Üniversitesi
İletişim Fakültesi ve Hacettepe Üniversitesi Grafik Bölümü “Fotoğraf Eğitimi” dersleri ilk
defa sanatçı tarafından verilmiştir. Sanatçı 58 yıl boyunca foto muhabirliği yapmış olan bir
duayendir. Bu süre kapsamında, kaydı tutulmamış birçok ödül kazanmıştır. Bu ödüllerden
en önemlisi “Devlet Sanatçısı” unvanıdır. Fotoğraf sanatı alanında ilk ve tek devlet sanatçısı
unvanı olan sanatçının diğer önemli ödülleri; AFSAD, FSK, BUFSAD, Foto Muhabirleri Derneği
Onursal Üyesi Ödülleridir.
Sanatsal fotoğraf, teknolojik bir ürün olduğu için, plastik sanatlara sonradan katılmış
olmasına karşın, olanakları geniştir. En minimalinden en karmaşığına, en soyutundan en
öyküseline; hatta başka disiplinlere de bulaşmış olanına kadar, yüreğim bütün ifadelere
açıktır. Ancak, benim en yaygın birikimim“Şiirsel Gerçekçilik”üzerine kuruludur.
He was born in 1934 in Balıkesir. Related to his education, the artist states” I have self -thought
myself.” He is the author of 11 books and 9 more are about to be published. The “Photography
Training” courses at Anadolu University Faculty of Communication and Hacettepe University
Department of Graphic Design were first given by the artist. He is a senior artist, a doyen, with
58 years of experience behind him as a press photographer. During this period, he has won so
many awards that their record could not be kept. However, the most prestigious of these is the
”State Artist Award”. The first and the only photographer to be granted this honor, the artist
is also an honorary member of AFSAD, FSK, BUFSAD and Association of Press Photographers.
As art photography is a technological product, it offers immense opportunities although it was
included in the plastic arts only recently. My heart is open to all sorts of expressions, from the
most minimalist to the most complicated: from the most abstract to the most narrative and even
to those touching upon other disciplines. However, my vast accumulation of experience is based
on “Poetic Reality”.
